Wim had het voordeel dat hij aan een remise genoeg had voor de titel, wegens een hoger aantal weerstandspunten in het reguliere toernooi. Hij liet het echter niet op dit kleine verschil aankomen en wist de tweede partij afgelopen donderdag met zwart te winnen.
